Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 June 2026

The short version

HandyConvert has no user accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, and no database. We do not ask for your name or email address and we do not collect personal information. The calculators run entirely in your browser. The only data leaving your device is what advertising and analytics partners receive when you grant consent — explained in detail below.

Information stored on your device

Our tools use your browser’s localStorage to remember your language, your dark-mode preference, and your last-used calculator values, so the site is convenient on your next visit. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies

In keeping with Quebec’s Law 25 and Google’s platform privacy requirements, non-essential cookies are off by default. On your first visit a consent banner appears; analytics and advertising cookies, web beacons (pixel tags), device identifiers, and any similar tracking technologies are blocked until you choose to allow them. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and you can review or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which tools are used and how the site performs, in aggregate. When analytics consent is granted, Google Analytics may set cookies on your device and collect: the pages you view, your approximate location derived from your IP address, the type of device and browser you use, and a randomly generated identifier that lets Google distinguish unique visitors. We never receive your IP address or any personal identifier; we only see aggregated reports. Analytics never loads unless you grant consent for that category. You can learn more about how Google collects and uses data on our site at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising — Google AdSense

HandyConvert is supported by advertising. With your consent, we display ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites on the Internet, to limit how many times you see an ad, to detect and prevent advertising fraud, and to measure ad performance. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in several ways: (1) through Google’s My Ad Center; (2) through the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out (US/Canada); (3) through Your Online Choices (EU/EEA); or (4) through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out. For full detail on what Google receives and how it uses it, see policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are visiting from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the same consent gate applies: analytics and personalised advertising are off by default, and we only load them after you have given clear, opt-in consent through the banner (Google’s EU User Consent Policy). Withdrawing consent is one click in the footer.

How Google handles the data it receives

When advertising or analytics consent is granted, the relevant Google services receive data directly from your browser, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s commitments to business customers. Google publishes a dedicated page explaining how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can review and control the data Google holds about you at any time through your Google Account dashboard.

Other third-party services

Pages are delivered through the Cloudflare content delivery network. The Inter font and the Alpine.js interactivity library are self-hosted on our own server. These technical providers may process your IP address as a strictly necessary part of serving the page to you. Some of these providers store data outside Quebec.

How to review, manage, or delete your data

Because we do not collect personal information directly, we do not hold a file to send you. To exercise your rights over the data that may be held by our advertising or analytics partners: (a) clear or block cookies in your browser settings; (b) review and delete data Google holds at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy; (c) withdraw your consent on this site at any time from the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer. If you still believe we hold information about you, contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days as required by Quebec Law 25.

Your rights under Quebec Law 25

Because we do not collect or hold personal information about you, there is no personal file to access or correct. You retain full control of the data stored on your own device and of your cookie consent, which you can change or withdraw at any time. If you believe we hold information about you, you may contact us to ask about access, rectification, or deletion.

Who is responsible for privacy

A person responsible for the protection of personal information oversees this policy. Privacy questions, requests, or complaints can be sent through our contact page. You may also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Children

HandyConvert is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and our content is not targeted to a child audience as defined by Google’s platform policies. We do not allow advertising to be personalised on the basis of activity by users under 13.

Sensitive categories

We do not knowingly use, share, or allow personalised advertising on the basis of sensitive categories — including health, financial status, race or ethnicity, religion, criminal history, political affiliation, union membership, or sexual orientation — as required by Google’s personalised advertising restrictions.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it. Significant changes affecting cookies or third-party processing will also prompt the consent banner to reappear.
